TIP LEADS TO WEST BROAD STREET DRUG ARREST
On January 30, 2020, around 8:30pm, Hazleton Patrol officers received a tip about a SUSPICOUS MALE selling drugs in the rear of a restaurant in the 400 Block of West Broad Street.
Hazleton Patrol Officers responded to the area and located a male who was later identified as Anthony Maffei (05/19/78) walking in the area.
Based on the information provided, officers stopped to speak with Maffei, who refused to follow orders to remove his hands from his pockets.
Maffei was patted down for officer safety, when the officer felt multiple bundles of heroin in his pockets. The officers immediately detained Maffei and the items were retrieved from his pockets and confirmed to be heroin/fentanyl.
Search incident to arrest revealed Maffei to be in possession of (880) packets of suspected heroin/fentanyl, $853.00 in US currency, several hypodermic syringes and other drug paraphernalia.
Maffei was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin, which were approved by the LCDA Office. Maffei was processed at Hazleton Police Headquarters and transported to LCCF for arraignment.
