Hazleton Police Chief Announces Retirement
In a letter to News 13, Hazleton Police Chief Robert Ferdinand announces his retirement from The Hazleton Police Dept. effective March 29, 2012. In the press release, he states he is retiring “After 23 years of service to the city in order to pursue other interests and spend time with my family. I am honored for the opportunity to have worked with former mayor Lou Barletta and Mayor Joe Yannuzzi. I have found tenure as a police officer and chief of police to be deeply rewarding. I have been committed to serving the citizens of Hazleton to the best of my abilities. I am especially honored to have worked beside some of the finest law enforcement officers: the officers and staff of The Hazleton Police Department. Further, I am committed to ensuring a smooth transition and will do all I can to assist the city in that process.”
