DCED Visits Greater Hazleton
The Department of Economic Development, or DCED has hit the road to find new business opportunites in our region. For the past few days DCED has been listening to the needs of Northeastern Pennsylvania’s community. Wednesday they toured Humboldt Industrial Park and viewed a business success story right here in Greater Hazleton. Joe Prendergast is the Business Development Manager at ABF, an international company who has set up shop right here in Northeastern Pennsylvania thanks to DCED.
DCED has traveled throughout Wayne, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Pike, Monroe, Carbon and Schuylkill counties where they visited several facilities in hopes of strengthing bonds with the community. DCED’s Secretary, C. Alan Walker said he’s impressed with the area’s growth. The tour ended with a lunch-in at Hazleton’s Genetti’s where Lieutenant Governor Jim Cawley spoke to the crowd about the importance of DCED’s trip. The Lieutenant Governer said a trip like this puts a face to a name, and Can-Do Corporation’s President, Kevin O’Donnell agrees. Lieutenant said Northeastern PA has a lot of potential and now that they have visited the area, they have a better understanding of what the area needs.
