Attempted Kidnapping

Two men who tried to kidnapp a woman Thursday night remain on the loose
tonight. Troopers tell us they are looking for two hispanic men who
attempted to kidnap a 21-year-old woman from the Hazleton shopping
center on Broad Street in downtown Hazleton between 7:30 and 8 p.m.
Thursday. The un-named woman told troopers the attempt was made in the
parking lot near the liquor store and Save- A- Lot, and that the men
were in a older white mini-van with a spare tire on the front passenger
seat. After the attempt failed the two suspects took off heading north
on Route 309. Police said one man has a raspy voice and bulging stomach,
is around 25 to 30 years of age, 6 foot 3 to 6 foot 5, and weighs
between 250 and 300 pounds. His dress was a tan or lite colored hoodie,
blue jeans, and a black beanie. The other man is about 6 feet tall, in
his 20’s, between 200 and 230 pounds, and was wearing a dark sweatshirt
that zips up the front and blue jeans. Anyone who has any information at
all about these 2 men is asked to call the Hazleton City police
department by dialing 9-1-1.
