Warrant Leads To Arrest

On May 21, 2019, at approximately 1:07pm, Hazleton Officers responded to the 300 Block of E. Diamond Avenue on a fugitive wanted on a Protection from Abuse Order inside a residence. The individual was identified as Angel Torres and while in route, the warrant was confirmed through LCCC for failure to appear.

Upon arrival, officers approached the front and rear of the residence. Upon approaching the rear, officers observed Torres standing in the yard. Officers ordered Torres to the ground to which he failed to comply, ignoring commands, he fled on foot towards 1st Street.

While Torres was running away, Officer Ryan Mariano observed Torres throw a green bag onto a garage at the rear of the residence. Torres was subsequently taken into custody and Officer Zach Molinaro recovered the green bag off the roof.

The bag contained (22) tied off plastic baggies containing suspected marijuana and a scale. A search incident to arrest of Torres revealed (1) tied off plastic baggie containing suspected marijuana and $690.00 in US currency on his person.

Torres was subsequently transported back to City Hall and later arraigned on charges for PWI.
