Splash Park Plans Down the Drain
News 13 was the first to show you plans of a new water spray park set to
be built along McKinley Street. However, as we hinted to you last night
live at 5:00, Hazleton City Water Authority’s plans for that
recreational spot have “gone down the drain” officially. Board members
voted 3-2 on Thursday to take back a vote cast just last month for
buying over $140-thousand worth of arch jets, bubblers and other devices
for the proposed spray area. Chairman, John Keegan, was on SSPTV’s
inside scoop Thursday where he said the authority should not get into
the park business and was against the plan. He said he was going to ask
the board to nix the project. The project area is on authority-owned
land that houses two massive water storage tanks along McKinley Street.
No word what, if anything, will be built where the park was set to go.
