Saluting Our Veterans
Local veterans were invited to the Laurel Mall Monday for a tribute to thank them for their service. To many, veterans are heroes, and Veteran’s Day is time to honor those who have served our country. Joe Barna served as a marine in the Korean War in 1952. His most precious memory was the day his life was saved while at war. He says, the man who saved him gave him sixty more years to live. Also in attendance Monday was 91-year-old Charles Neubert, who served in World War II. Neubert is the oldest World War II vet in the Hazleton Area. We may never get the chance to hear all their stories, and we won’t ever have the chance to walk in their shoes. All we can do for our veterans is say thank you.
