Police Drug Bust Culminates in 4 Arrests
High tensions grew taller today on East Diamond Avenue. And while residents of this drug-dealing apartment building wouldn’t talk to News 13 on camera, they had plenty to yell at us when we tried talking to neighbors.
Mike, who didn’t want to give his last name, says the neighbors knew the home was a drug house. He says they sent a petition to City Hall to check it out two years ago.
Mike says he’s glad the city is finally doing something about the drug-dealers in town, who he says have been setting up shop here for years
Police are amping up their presence and clamping down on drug-related crimes in the Greater Hazleton Area.
City police Chief Frank DeAndrea says police seized cash and drugs during the bust.
The four hooligans police arrested are: 40-year old Juan Santiago; 40-year-old Antonio Santiago; 31-year-old Fred Gettis and 27-year-old David Lee Hall. Police charged them with possession of a controlled substance, delivery of a controlled substance and other related charges.
Today, neighbors say, with a bigger police presence, they still see potential for Hazleton. Chief DeAndrea says he wants to want to put drug dealers behind bars, but he needs to hear from the public about where they’re hiding.
