Deivon “Shoa-Tyme” Barlow is an 18 year old high school senior and aspiring rapper from Hazleton. Shoa’s latest music video “All Night”, was shot in Hazleton, it shows kids drinking, smoking and partying. The problem is, some of the kids in the video are under 18. SSPTV showed the video to Police Chief Frank DeAndrea to get a second opinion. He said there was no way to find out if this real of fake. Although officials can’t verify what’s in the bottles, most don’t approve of the actions taking place. The video shows kids underage at least staging the act of drinking and smoking. Shoa-Tyme said he’s proud of the video no matter what some parents may think.
“That’s how a lot of kids have fun. I think this is just the first time it was brought to light especially in front of their parents or people who see them in a different way,” said Shoa-Tyme.
Before it was taken down on Tuesday, the video had over 10,000 views. John Baldino is a Digital and Social Media Strategist. He said some media forms appear to glorify drugs and alcohol it doesn’t mean people should recreate it and then post it.
“When you see that video camera come out you need to think to yourself, ‘Am I doing something that I want the entire world to see me do?’,”
John said media sites are all about perception. So, when posting something make sure it’s appropriate. Professionals and future employers will search for you.
“Think before you post. Think before you do anything where there is a camera present,” said Baldino.
Shoa- Tyme said he is considering going to college and hopes this won’t affect future job opportunities.
