McAdoo Mayor Looks to Downsize Borough Council
It was a suggestion that was brought up years ago, but never solidified. The idea was brought up yet again early last month by McAdoo resident Ron Simasek. It’s been said that McAdoo Borough Council needs to be downsized. Mayor Dane Watro started a petition last month in an effort to dwindle the number of elected officials on Council from seven to five. The reason behind the potential phasing out of two seats is to better serve the Borough of McAdoo and to save the tax payers some money. All seven current members of Borough Council have signed the petition. More than twice the amount of needed signatures have been obtained and now a judge in Schuylkill County will review and make a determination. More on this LIVE at 5 tonight.
