Little Library on Northside
It’s a simple idea that brings a rewarding outcome. A free book exchange, set up in the Borough of Freeland, is not only promoting reading…it’s bringing neighbors together.
News 13 stopped by the Freeland Town Square Sunday to check out the community’s brand new, miniature library.
The idea called a “Little Free Library” started in Wisconsin, and has made its’ way all around the world.
Local author, LeAnne Brogan and her husband have installed a little, free library in their community on the Northside. Residents can bring a book from home and exchange it for a book left behind by a fellow resident. There are even children’s books. Although Freeland’s Little Free Library isn’t the first in Pennsylvania, it is the first in Luzerne County. This idea fosters a sense of community, sharing and honesty…all while promoting reading. Each library’s design is unique and builders are encouraged to be creative! For more information on Little Free Libraries, visit www.littlefreelibrary.org!
