Attempted Abduction

West Hazleton Police are stepping up and taking extra patrols in their Borough, after a man tried to lure a young boy inside his car Tuesday evening. The 10-year-old boy was walking from his Aunt’s home along Green Street to nearby Puff and Stuff on 4th Street, a few minutes before 6pm. The walk was only about one block away. On his way out of the store, a stranger approached him and tried to lure him inside his car by offering him a sticker. News 13 spoke with the 10-year-old victim who says, his Auntie told him not to talk to strangers, so he just ran. The man did then order him to get in the car, but the victim continued to run. West Hazleton Police Chief, Brian Buglio says, this is a major concern for his department and they’re taking it very seriously. Everything happened quickly, still the boy was able to get a good description of the man and his car. The white male is described as tall with a muscular build, in his 20s or 30s. He has short black hair and a goatee. He also has a tattoo on one his arms. He was wearing a black shirt with a white-collar, jeans and “coyote tan boots”. He was driving a green car with a V on the front, suggesting he drives either a Volvo or Volkswagen. If you have any information you asked to call West Hazleton Police at 455-3733 or simply dial 911.
